Nyi parangara! (Good afternoon!)

    I hope everyone is doing well! I am very comforted by the fact that even when our "plan A" fails, God's Plan (Plan G) is always in place and nothing takes Him by surprise.

"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails" Proverbs 19:21 

     Case in point: I thought for sure that I would be leaving on the 14th of May, 2018 to begin my Wilderness EMT classes promptly on the 15th. What I didn't count on was a very severe flu/cold that decided to do push ups on my lungs and a high fever with accompanying chills. With three days to go and last minute preparations still outstanding, it was very unlikely that I would fully recover in time. I didn't know what to do, so I prayed and contacted SOLO Schools with my quandary.

   They were very understanding and also honest about the rigors of the course. Their recommendation was that I should come for the Wilderness EMT on July 10th when I am fully recovered and had no problem in transferring my tuition for the future course.
     I thankful for the additional time to become more familiar with the course material and come to full physical recovery. This also will put my two courses (WEMT and Geo Medic) back to back with 6 days in between, keeping the information fresh as I transition into the 2nd course.

    My brother-in-law Lodu (A.K.A. Reggae) is still in critical condition and though a couple possibilities were considered to get him to higher level care, they all fell through. The case of Lodu  is not an isolated incident and the overtaxed, under equipped, understaffed health system of East Africa is groaning under the burden of patients, like Reggae, that they can't always deal with or help. The medical need in S. Sudan is great and we are praying for wisdom to reach out to those in need.
        At this point we are looking to the Grace and Mercy of God to intervene on Lodu's behalf and know he is in the Lord's hands. Our prayer is for more than just healing, as we desire that God is glorified and that Joyce's family would come to a full understanding of the grace and love that is found in KNOWING Jesus Christ! Thank you for your continued prayers for Lodu, Joyce, and the Kenyi family.

~Jonathan's Wilderness EMT course (July 10th to Aug 2nd) from SOLO schools. The ability to glean all he can from this learning opportunity. God has provided so much and the only outstanding need for the course is a few remaining supplies/equipment and the weekly expenses I will occur for Laundry mat, meals on the weekend, etc. for four weeks.

~Provision and preparation for the next medical course, Geo Medic (Aug. 7th-17th, also @ SOLO schools), a 10 day intensive course in the medical skills needed for the third world and developing countries. ($2,300)

~Re-equipping and outfitting the Nehemiah Field Clinic in S. Sudan with the needed diagnostic tools, medicines, staff, and supplies to serve the health needs of the community.

Ingoni Mozi! (Hello My friend!)

    I want to apologize deeply for the lack of activity and updates on this blog in the last few months. I assure you that it was not for lack of things to report, but a lack of time to report the numerous goings on in the Lueken Family.

HHC 2018 Conference

    Joyce, Patience and I flew to Kansas City, MO April 11th to the 16th.  We were blessed to be accompanied by my parents, who graciously were our babysitters while the two of us attended a medical/health conference (April 12 - 13th, 2018). The INMED Humanitarian Health Conference is a two day event with health care professionals from varied medical disciplines that come from all over the world! The plenary and breakout sessions were all gospel and service oriented, while at the same time being practical and professional. The networking between healthcare practitioners and Christian ministries that are actively involved in medical missions was amazing.

BLSO Course

    One of our highlights was the one day Basic Life Support in Obstetrics course in which we experienced 10 hours of intensive, but fun, practical. The learning points included: performing a safe delivery and  knowing the danger signs before, during, and after birth that would require immediate intervention or referral and transportation to a higher level of care. As Joyce and I have been burdened by the needs of mothers and children in S. Sudan, we know these skills will greatly help us in ministering health to our communities, by God's grace!

   We were also blessed with sweet fellowship with friends in the Kansas City and St. Louis area.

Dear friends in Maine

  Since finishing the conference in April, Joyce and I have had the privilege to travel around the New England area and share what the Lord is doing in S. Sudan. More recently we have been to various locations in Maine, but we will resume travelling in June to all over New England and perhaps other parts of North America as well. Please let us know if you would be interested in having us come share at your church, small group, or to a group of interested people in your living room! 



    I (Jonathan, currently fighting a fever/cold) ) have a three day countdown until I head off to a Wilderness EMT course in Conway, NH. https://www.soloschools.com/ . Thanks for your prayers! This intensive course will keep me busy for a whole month, as various medical emergencies in a remote, wilderness environment will be simulated and exercised and also get some practical in weekly EMT clinical rotations.
       I am very excited for this opportunity, though praying for grace for my wife, who will be staying home, as she continues self-directed studies in Nutrition and Midwifery and takes care of little Patience Rozana.

We are praying everyday for God to equip us for our return to S. Sudan, that we may truly minister to the spiritual and physical needs of our community and the people of South Sudan, both for Joyce and I's family and for Operation Nehemiah Missions as a whole. Keep us in prayer for:

~Jonathan's Wilderness EMT course (May 15th to June 7th) from SOLO schools and the ability to glean all he can from this learning opportunity. ~Grace for Joyce as she stays home with Patience and my parents and gets some quiet study time,
